Apr 27, 2009Star Wars satellite launch protest needs international support messages

On May 5, 2009 (time yet released) there will be a Delta 2 rocket launch at the Vandenberg Air Force Base. The United Launch Alliance Delta 2 rocket will launch the Space Tracking and Surveillance System Advanced Technology Risk Reduction (STSS-ATRR) research and development mission for the Missile Defense Agency. It is a satellite launch for tracking and surveillance.

The peace protest will begin at the start of the launch window (not yet announced, see http://www.spacearchive.info/vafbsked.htm) probably midnight. It will be held at the front gate of Vandenberg Space Command on six miles north of Lompoc on Highway 1, in Santa Barbara county California. The protest will continue until the Delta II rocket is launched. The protest is sponsored by the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power is Space.

There will only be three of four people at the peace protest, so it will look like it is small.
I know that many people around the world support what we are saying. Please send us a short statement on your letterhead expressing your opinion of the "Star Wars" (Missile Defense) tracking and surveillance network. The statements will be released to the US press so  signed statements are preferable.

You can scan the document and send it as an attachment to my emailmacgregoreddy@gmail.com or you can Fax it to my husbands office MacGregor Eddy c/o Rick Robbins fax # 408 848 8303 (CA USA)

Yours truly,

MacGregor Eddy for the Global Network and WILPF
