On May 5, 2009 (time yet released) there will be a Delta 2 rocket launch at the Vandenberg Air Force Base. The United Launch Alliance Delta 2 rocket will launch the Space Tracking and Surveillance System Advanced Technology Risk Reduction (STSS-ATRR) research and development mission for the Missile Defense Agency. It is a satellite launch for tracking and surveillance.
The peace protest will begin at the start of the launch window (not yet announced, see http://www.spacearchive.info/vafbsked.htm) probably midnight. It will be held at the front gate of Vandenberg Space Command on six miles north of Lompoc on Highway 1, in Santa Barbara county California. The protest will continue until the Delta II rocket is launched. The protest is sponsored by the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power is Space.
